And this it how it goes…

If you are reading this, I am sure that you already know that I am going away to Hawaii to do a YWAM DTS, and if you did not know that yet….then now you do And, if you are wondering what a YWAM DTS stands for, it is  this. YWAM or, Youth With A Mission is a Christian organization founded by Lorne Cunningham that basically helps people help people that need help. There are bases all around the world and many different schools to apply for or get involved in. A DTS is a Discipleship Training School that runs for about 6 months and consists of training in reaching out and showing people God’s love. They do and intense 2-3 month training  first geared to get the students ready for when they actually go out into their outreach phase.

I have applied to do a DTS called PhotogenX ( http://www.uofnkona.edu/index.cfm?fuseaction=control.main&sectionID=430&CFID=374516&CFTOKEN=87001716  ). It obviously has a lot to do with Photography.  We will be trained not only in sharing God’s love and reaching out to help other’s in need, we will be trained in photography and portraiture. I am so excited to start this whole journey. If I had known that I was going to do this in High School, I would have laughed because although I love art and creativity, and photography…. i never would have thought i would find enough passion to pursue an adventure with a camera in hand! But i am, and i am very excited to see where God will lead me in this journey. And I know He has a plan because there are so many things that confirm this as something for me to do. I know about 6 people that actually live in Hawaii at the YWAM base that i have met through the camp i work in the summer, I have already recieved more financial support than I had expected ( and it was such a blessing as well…$10,000 is a lot of money to raise… i am almost about half way there!!!), and at the last minute i also got into a photography class at the college to learn how to actually use my camera….cause it is definately not easy to figuer out at first!!

So it is very nice to know that God has His hand in all of this… make it a little easier to leave Canada for 6 months. I know He will take care of me and that i will come out this journey stretched and one step closer to becoming whoever it is that God has created me to be. I know it will be hard to leave here and be away from my family and all my friends, but I am also so looking forward to doing something meaningful and try and help this world not be such a mess. Spread some hope and love, and maybe change a little myself in the process.
